Spokane Chiropractor | What is Chiropractic?

Many people that chiropractic is only about treating neck and lower back pain, headaches and car accidents. While we are very good at taking care of those conditions chiropractic is so much more than that. It is a different way of looking at health and the human body. Here are just a few analogies that help explain chiropractic philosophy.

#1. Termites in the Kitchen

A couple of termites don’t do much damage but over the years they multiply and destroy the framework of the house so that one day you unsuspectingly walk across the kitchen floor and it collapses below you. Subluxations are like termites: often undetectable to the untrained eye, but still they can cause massive damage. The time to correct them is a soon as they occur not later when it is far too late. When the symptoms arrive remember, symptoms are the last thing to come and the first thing to go away.

Termites and Subluxations

Like termites, subluxations can cause “silent” damage when left untreated.

#2. Blaming Sickness on Old Age and the Weather

If sickness and pain were the result of old age or the weather then why does only one part of you hurt. Your left leg is as old as your right leg. Yes the weather contributes but the issue is much deeper .

Blaming the weather for our aches and pains is kind of like blaming spoons for making us fat.

#3. Life is Like a Candle

A candle burns brightly all the way to the end, flickers once and goes out, life should be that way also… We are not meant spend 20+ growing old and feeble, barely able to function. Instead we should be healthy up to the moment we pass from this earth.

Our lives should burn brightly to the very end not flicker and fade over decades.

#4. Surgeons and Masks

Surgeon’s masks do not prevent disease. As a matter of fact the tiny holes in a surgeon’s mask are much larger than germs. Here is an analogy: if a germ were the size of a football then the size of the holes in a surgeons mask are the size of a jumbo jet. Rather than masks it is our immune systems that prevents disease.

It is more the result of our immune system and less about protective devices like masks that determine our health.
